I have used both izor and ultragreen. I prefer ultragreen because it doesn't wear out as fast as izor. I have found that izorline becomes quite a bit weeker after multiple uses, but UG holds its rigidity very well.

I would use ande premium over both on a baitcaster. This stuff is limp, stong as hell and way cheaper than maxima. UG is almost all I use for leaders though. Chrome

Maxima 10# for mainline and leader. I use big game in the salt and for springers.

I have a chance to pick up 2800 (+/-) yds. of 12 lb, MAXIMA CHAMELEON for about $25.00.
I have been fishing with Power Pro this year, and haven't ever used Maxima. Does this sound like a good bargain?
TIA..!

Winter steelhead lines.
Drift fishing: Izor Hi-vis 12# mainline Maxima Chameleon (sometimes UG) 8-12# leaders
Spoons or Floats: PowerPro 30# UG 8-12# tippet
Plugs: either 12# Izor Hi-Vis (drift and plug rod) or 10# Maxima Fibre Glow (plug only rod) with a Cham 8# or UG 10# tippet in low clear water.

My freind calls it OBG line. (old blind guy) izore green great qualities, cheap, and I seem to now lose much less gear now that I can see my line ALL THE TIME. After 20 years of the best by test I'm coverted.

I tend to go with Danielson...
1. 1800 yds. for $1.99 2. Bright blue for easy visibility 3. 12 lb. test is as thick as Izor's 30#, for easy visibility 3. The stiff coils that stay in the line when I cast are automatic "mends" for float fishing 4. It doubles as a tow rope if my truck gets stuck, or if I need to walk a boat down 5. People think I'm a cracker when they see me fishing with it, so they tend to stay far away If I can't find Danielson, I tend to pretty much go with Maxima, but only if I have to, and I don't tell people when I do.
Fish on...

Fished Maxima Chameleon for over 30 years. Tried others, but alway went back to Maxima. 2 years ago, I discovered Izorline, and will never go back. Now it's the high viz, and these older eyes can see the line again. The high viz, didn't seem to bother the very clear water, summer run fishing, as there were many double digit days. Maxima UG for leader material though. If ya take out the micrometer, you will find 10# Izorline is .001" smaller than 10# Maxiama, and same difference for the other lb test for each. Izorline is really very strong for line dia, compared to Maxima. I found I had to use the double clinch knot for 100% strength at the swivel as all other knots were not as strong for me during testing. I sorta like the price as well. Catarafter

Mike B- That is a damn good deal! Go for it. If you ever get a wild hair pick up a spool of ande premium green or hi vis, 5 to 6 bucks for 12lb- 500 yds. This stuff rocks!

I used Maxima in the past until I found a line called SUFFIX. I have compared it to both Izor and Maxima and it is far better hands down. I have seen independent testing on it verses other top brands (Izor and Maxima included) and it is stronger with abrasion resistance up to 20 times better than other mono lines. It is inexpensive but I guarantee if you buy a spool of Suffix Tritanium you will never go back to any other mono. I now use Powerpro (braided spectra) as my my main and Suffix Tritanium as my leader. What a combo. If you are a pure mono fisher, then try a spool of Suffix and you will see what I mean.

i know a guy who swears by that sufix stuff. seems like pretty good line, but the only place around here that carries it is tumwater sports and i don't feel like paying 10 bucks for 200 yards of line
i heard rumor that izor and sufix are made by the same company, but who knows
i caught the majority of my summer runs this year on 8lb izor, i'm sold on it

For all you maxima freaks, something new around the corner. Maxima flourocarbon. I tested some and loved it. Should be on the market in the next month or so. Now you can have the same quality as a main line and leader! You love it as much as I do.
