Yep! We sure do have fish farms in WA. Here's a few locations that have farms:
Port Angeles Ediz Hook
South Bainbridge Island
Rochester by Scatter Creek

There's more out there but I can't think of them off the top of my head. These mentioned are all Atlantic Salmon Farms.
You could run an internet search for Omega, Cypress Is., news of bainbridge island escape. Some of the businesses have been closed down, others bought out, at least one is now a broodstock company.

Thanks for the replies

I have heard there is a run of Atlantic Salmon in the Green that was caused from pens that busted open. I am just curious to how well that species has thrived and what damage thay may be causing to the natural runs?

The Columbia River above Chief Joseph Dam has several operations too! I'm afraid this propaganda is just what the commercials need to try to get more fish frown !

Remember when they had the mass escape of pen fish in Kitsap county a few years ago?

They wanted anglers to catch them all ASAP - no limits, no rules. Since the fish just milled around their accustomed area, it was a "fish in a barrel" scene.

A few Atlantics have been spotted in local rivers but it is very rare and they are certainly not propogating in the rivers to my knowledge.

All interesting stuff from environmental groups....Wish there really was such a thing as an "unbiased" source for information. On this topic I don't think that exists. It makes it hard to study the issue fairly. I guess I'll have to follow Auty's lead and study...or should I say wade through the crap to get to the truth.
