Hello,
Well me an my pals are excited about Springer season coming up. From what we have read, herring plugs and quickfish are the way to go. Ok, we will be bank fishing. So how or is it possible to use quickfish. What are the typical setups for bank springer fishing. Any help or comment would be greatly appreaciated.

Thanks,
Cam

Use a fairly stout rod and 25lbs mainline. Attach a swivel to the end and then 4 - 5 feet of lighter line for a dropper. To that tie a cannonball sinker; 8 - 10 oz depending on current. Sling tthat baby out into the salmon's traveling lane. Then take your sardine wrapped kwikfish and tie about 4 feet of 20lbs leader to it with a snap swivel at the other end. Snap the swivel onto your mainline and let it slide down into the water. It will come to rest against your lower swivel and you'll be fishing about 4 feet off the bottom 4 feet downstream of your mainline.

Good luck.

Bank guys on the Clearwater in Idaho fished the way goharley said for salmon with one slight change. They put a small bead right above the swivel that the weight is tied to. This prevented the swivel with the quickfish on it from rubbing against the knot and possibly fraying the line.

I heard of a lot of fish being taken this way. Good luck.

Run a 3 way swivel with 2 to 3 inches of lead line and a 2 1/2 to 3 foot leader with a spin-n-glow on the end tipped with prawn or sandshrimp. Tie in another swivel 3 feet up you main line. Cast that puppy out and then once it settles slide your kwikfish down via a snap. It will work it's way down to the second swivel. Now you're fishing two rigs instead of one. Fish on!!!!

Not sure if this would work over there in the west but over here around the Great Lakes some people use little planer boards such as the yellow birds to carry the lure out from the bank. I would imagine that it would work in most situations.

Figured you'd appreciate that grandpa. With all that's going to be happening for the next 9 months I figured I'd better stock up.

I watched a guy at barrier dam using a side planer and a smallish plug to get Spingers (and steelhead) last year.
Must admit that I was impressed.
