Anyone fish Hood Canal this morning? Was wondering how about juvenile chinook survival during the low D.O. last fall.

Haven't been out for Black mouth but I did see on the WDFW website that Hood canal is Closed to fishing again starting the 17th...

Salmon, Trout, Clams and Oysters excluded of course.

The up-coming closure doesn't include salmon or trout.

I hope the problems in the canal have gotten everyone's attention. It's really sad to see this fishery in trouble. Difficult to think of not being able to crab, shrimp, and salmon fish in the canal over the summer. This fishery is economically important to the Hood Canal area. I wasn't alone out there this past season

The experts tell us that they think the problems (poor septic systems) can be fixed but it will be expensive. I for one think its a small price to pay.
