We are header to Tokeland tomorrw. Digging begins this evening. Any reports or suggestions for Friday and Sat digging would be appreciated.

DV, dig on the north end of Twin Harbors beach, north of Grayland. Populations are spotty, so arrive early, at last two hours before the tide, and if you don't find them, get in the truck and move. I've also heard there are decent clam numbers at the very south end of the Twin Harbors beaches. Surf has been surging all week, and if it doesn't lay down, they might not show well. Apparently, Kalaloch had another sample test over the federal threshold for domoic acid of 20 ppm and won't open. Hear tell it could open in March if the levels drop.

Dave - Most of all, be careful. The surf is supposed to be high and mighty this weekend. As you probably saw in the newspapers, there are two less clam diggers in Washington because of the high surf. Clams are great but they ain't worth risking your neck.....

Coho Angler:

Thanks. We will be extra careful. The last time out, my three year old grandson went for an unscheduled swim- a huge sneaker rolled up a lot of diggers. I was afraid it would ruin him for the ocean, but once he quit sputtering he was braggign to everyone , "I want swimming."

Best I've seen in quite a while. Hit very south end of south beach(grayland), wife and I got our limits in 30 min. Surf was low and they were showing everywhere. Was on the road by 3:30. Sun and blue sky.

Stopped at the inlaws on the way back and fried up a bunch. Doesn't get any better.
