Sorry this might be a little late for this weekend. I finally made it out Thursday am with my buddy. We started fishing at about 7:30am on the SE side of hat Island and immediatly hit a shaker. At approximately 7:50 we hit a double which turned out to be a pair of 6 lbrs. Since we both wanted to keep fishing to see what was up around the rest of the area I released my fish and we continued to explore the bar. Only hit a couple more shakers before we quit at 2:00 PM. Had an aquaintance come by and show us the 12lbr he'd just picked up on the north side of the island.
and talked to another fellow who had a 7 1/2 lbr.
We decided to hit it again Friday am and within an hour we had hit two fish that would've been legal but since we were looking for those bigger fish we released both and continued on. We finally found the bigger fish in about 120 ft of water where all the bait had concentrated in a hole out of the current. The first one which looked to be about 10lbs came unbuttoned just out of net range
Got the second fish an 8lbr on the next pass. We called it a day as it was getting close to noon. This was the first time in weeks that we had seen big bait concentrations and a lot of the fish looked rather skinny. All fish were caught on 5" silver hordes and 3 1/2" coyotes. Will probably go out tomorrow looking for those bigger fish so I'll keep you posted
