Was thinking about fishing down there yesterday, but with the nice weather and good flows on a Saturday combinded with reports of a 30lb hatchery fish, I figured everybody and their brother would be on it. The Seattle Times also reported that it was hot. No thanks. Decided to hit the salt instead. Managed to scrape up a nice nine pounder, but other than that it was extremely slow. So how was it?

Well.........here's what I can tell ya........Friday was a zoo.....I only live 5-6 miles away, so I fish this whenever its in shape. Got to the river 6:45 am and HAD to wait 7 boats to put in.......think it ended up like 17 jet boats, many takeout rigs parked at one of 2 boat launches. Was a nice day, got lot's of gear, got to practice my boondogging skills.......never saw a fish on, but "heard" about a hatchery fish and a "comeback". Left at 12:30, took Saturday and Sunday off......be there in the morning....if nothing else.......can add to my "gear supply", those "out of towners" have a thing for the bush and trees along the river banks. Thanks......... "Worse day sport fishing, still better than th3 best day working"

And here's what I can tell you about Sunday. It wasn't a zoo but close. We caught and released two dark fish. I saw 1 bankie release a Native. That's all folks.
P.S If it wasn't for the nets we wouldn't have excuses for not catching fish.
P.P.S Hey drifter, I think you should list all of the gear you find, maybe someone will be able to indentify their lost gear and you can return it to them !!!! If you found any pink corkies they are mine!

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Drifter's gonna start his own gear shop, Local. He'll make you a great deal on slightly used stuff. Not disappointed I had to miss the debacle this weekend. Hey John.........how are the weekday crowds lately?

Here's another report. Hit the lower river Saturday and between the two of us we had 7 hookups boated 5. My buddy and his brother fished it today and had 6 hookups boated 3. Two chromers in the 11 or 12 lb range and one spawned out hen about 6 lbs. Biggest on Saturday was 15 lbs. bright chrome hatchery hen.

Hey thanks to all that "put the gear in the trees and bushes".......monday was a awesome day.......not much pressure on my part of the river .....Thanks to all the weekend fisher people, I actually got 59 corkies and cheaters, 4 jigs, 1 spinner, and 1 plug.........paid for my gas and the day was super. Wish more people would go to cheaters, have enough corkies......lol "worse day sport fishing still better than the best day working"

Thats great news Drifter but I don't think you can re-use all those dead sand scrimp you have found with the corkies. Dan S may want to buy them !!!! Best gear day I ever had was on the Satsop. I pulled 6 kwik fish from a tree limb under water, at the Baker hole. This may sound like a B.S story but I had witnesses. Several "out of towners" floated by and commented on my success.
