Which kwik fish work best for springers, those that rattle, or those that don't? And why?
Thanks!

Have heard opposing theories favoring either one. Kind of like asking whether you want cream with your coffee. Kings will eat them served either way. The colors and sizes I like seem to be sold with a rattle nowadays... still have a few old ones without.

I like them with rattles; but it has more to do with if the plug works. Some plugs out fish others regardless of the color or rattle. They just have the Right Dance of Death.

Kwikies are no different than any other plug. No matter how much you try to tune them, some just don't catch fish. I'd guess that 75% of the plugs that I buy end up with the hooks removed and are used as christmas tree ornaments. It appears that all of the new colors are rattle only. I suppose that you could special order them in bulk w/o the rattle, but I haven't noticed any difference.

I like rattles in the Columbia. The water is cloudy, and the fish are aggressive and curious. The more noise, the better. I catch fish on both kinds. I'm not sure you can even find one without a rattle anymore.

When the rattles first came out, I made it a point to mark them for easier ID. Was never impressed that they caught more fish. Pretty soon all the big Kwiks were only made with a rattle. Over the years, my plug boxes were dominated by the rattlers and the non-rattlers became an endangered species.
The new K16-X is advertised as available both with and without the rattle. Obviously, Luhr Jensen realizes that some of us must have strong preferences one way or the other.
