Ever cast Quickies or Flatfish from the bank for Coho or Chinook?

Ever anchor above a good holding slot and free float them down and then reel back up?

Yep.

I get bored fishing plugs in the conventional manner, so I started the cast/retrieve thing a long time ago. It's fun, and sometimes works even better than backtrolling them.

I've never casted a Qwikfish, but I have casted plugs for coho and been really surprised at how well they fish and how much fish like them presented that way.

Do you think it is better to fish them like a spoon and let them swing, or is it better to cast straight down into holding water and retrieve up through the holding water.

Both.

Chinook seem to prefer them casted to the tailout and retrieved back to the top of the hole. Sometimes they like them swung across a tailout..........then let the plug work directly below the boat for a minute.......

Silvers like them casted into the bank or brush piles and then reeled back. They also like them casted and retrieved through froggy water.

Thinking back about a couple Snoho-coho from last year, I damn near had a heart attck on some of the strikes I got on plugs.

Casting and retreiving mag wart's for king's and silver's has produced some double digit day's on the river in October and November.
Kwikies should work also.Good luck,

When you do this are you guys tying the plug straight to the mainline or do you add some weight?

No weight - we just tie on a clip and hook it directly to the plug. You can change plugs easy that way, or throw on a spinner if you want.

If the hole your fishing requires you to get the offering down deep I like to use pencil lead on about a 2-3 foot leader to your plug. U20 flatfish are perfect for both big kings and coho if the water has a little color. Hot shots and wiggle warts also work good
