Hey guys, I'm planning on fishing the Queets this weekend. I have never been down it. I'm reasonably good with the oars but is there anything (hazards) I should know about? How about the Hoh as well. Thanks in advance.

There's a old growth spruce completely blocking the river about a mile below the campground. Signs recommend no floating as treacherous conditions exist!

Wooooooo. Thanks Mike. That's just what I was afraid of. Any word on the lower river?

No obstacles from Hartzell to Salmon R. and ~100yds downstream. River does seem to have a liking for eroding away at the south bank quite a bit.

Can anyone confirm beaver sightings on this river? This past Monday my dad thinks he saw one.

Forgot to mention that the road has been repaved, hallelujah! Don't know if it is repaved all the way to the campground, but it is at least to Hartzell.

I've seen where beaver have been dragging trees so it doesn't surprise me that he saw one...I've also seen a good population of river otter.

He said he saw it hop into the water off a logjam, but I didn't see any gnawed trees in the vicinity.

In my experience, very little beaver on the Queets; to wet and cold, esp. in winter.

Much more beaver say, on Kalama on a hot day in july. Heard Yakima also has lots.

If you're really looking for beaver though, I'd say look closer to high population areas!Or better yet just go to the source.
