Anyone have any advice on a good colorchartplotter that won't break the bank? I was thinking about the garmin 172c combined with the blue chart cd. Anyone have this setup? I like the idea of being able to see (roughly) how deep it is. We do a lot of bottom fishing out of la push so this would come in handy. I think.

Thanks
Kris

You won't find a better color plotter in that price range (under $700), also, you don't need to download the cd, that unit accepts the "Blue Chip", same info, different format.

I'm sure as soon as Garmin releases it it will be 1 of, if not, our best selling plotters.

Either the Garmin 172c that Glowball mentioned or the Garmin 178c which is a combination chartplotter/fishfinder. Neither have been released by Garmin yet, but according to our Garmin rep, they should be out by early to mid April.

I hook a basic GPS to a laptop and use free plotting software from http://www.sping.com
