I will be going down to the columbia on apr 15-18 . what is the best spot to go to for a beginner for springers i have a 17 foot fiberform tri haul with a 115 horse johnson. Where would the best place to go with this size boat. I have been salmon fishing for abotu 3 years now ou in the sound. Can anyone recomend a spot and a campground close by?

There are so many places to put in. As with any area we all have our favorites. I don't think there are any great secret places on the Columbia. Pretty much there are areas which have predomintly those who troll and there are areas that are infested with "Anchor Monkeys". Some places will have a mix of the two or will change with the tide.

My favorite way to do things is to launch in St. Helen's Oregon. We fish around and camp on Sand Island.

I am a Cracker and have had only one strike in 6 days this Spring. Perhaps someone who actually has been catching them can help you more than I.
