Fellow Beachfishers,

We have an opportunity to make our voices heard at the North of Falcon meetings being held down south in Sacramento.

If you wish to fish either the beaches or from boats in Area 9 which is Admiralty Inlet, including Point No Point, Marrowstone, Edmonds and Whidbey Island, during the month of July, now is the time to call and email the following people:

Pat Patillo, email: PATTIPLP@dfw.wa.gov Phone: (360) 902-2705
Phil Anderson, email: ANDERPMA@dfw.wa.gov Phone: (360) 902-2720
Dr. Jeff Koenings, email: director@dfw.wa.gov Phone: (360) 902-2225

They do not know how many people fish these beaches nor do they know how many of us C&R the beaches.

The current regs are from July 16-31 with chinook release and limit of two salmon with no minimum size.

Leland.

What are we fighting for this time? Do you want a longer season? Do you want to retain chinook? I'll be in Lake Washington the first two weeks in July hammering sockeye, so those dates work for me ;\) .

Any proposals should have been voiced at the North of Falcon Meetings held in Lynnwood and Sea-Tac over the last month.

Any changes proposed now would likely be held over until next year. You have to work hard months in advance to get your proposals in the yearly agenda.

Last year at the Mill Creek North Of Falcon meeting the charter book guys wanted to trade the July area 9 fishery for a longer blackmouth season in April. I was surprised that it didn't come up this year.

Yes, you're right, proposals should have been made and they were at Olympia, Sea-Tac and Mill Creek.

Without going into all the ins and outs of this particular process, I will tell you that this call comes from our people in Sacramento at the NOF meetings. We can extend this season to the full month of July by bringing pressure upon Pat, Phil and Jeff. Keep in mind, though, this is only for people who want to fish Area 9 in July.
