I've heard of many good things about Rainshadow fly rods. Thinking about may be ordering an 8wt steelhead/salmon Rainshadow rod from Greg's Custom rod's. What's your opinion on Rainshadow fly rods and Greg's Custom rod's craftsman ship?

I have a 9', 8 weight. Its alright and pretty good for the price.

I plan on keeping it as a backup rod as I dont like the feel of it that much. I gues I could say its just not that comfortable to fish.

I have a 4 and 5 weight and I like them fine.

I have built several Rain shadow rods and have been very happy with thier actions, as steelhead rods. I have noticed as a whole they seem to be slower than thier equvilant rods made by loomis or other better manufactured rods. I have not used one of thier fly rods but I am using a 10' 7wt fly rod blank as a light float rod. Greg's gets five out of five stars as a shop. I only buy my stuff from him and have had a few guides replced by hiim when I didn't have time to do it my self. A second thought you may want to entertain is to get one of the new Sage 890 LE rod's. They retail for $170 and are an awsome rod! Good luck!

I have a 8wt, 11' 3'', light two-hander made from a Rainshadow blank. Its a moderate action rod which lobs heavy indicator, leaded bug setups very nicely. Also can be used one handed very easily...nice combo rod, plenty of backbone, but light enough not to kill you (like my old 9wt, 9ft, IMX did).

I'll get the model tonight and post it.
