Just drove into the Joes in Lake Stevens to get asked at the front door if I had an invitation.
I asked for what looking at the store hours on the door.
It appears they are having a fund raiser for the community and only employees of the store, employees of the city, and vendors are welcome because they are serving beer and wine.
I talked to the manager to find out if they have been advertising this and he said no.
I let him know I had wasted my time and should anyone else drive in there I just hope you didn't have to drive to far to get turned around at the door.
I like the store, but this chaps my

What I love about Joe's are the eight checkout registers and only one is open. Then the one that is open is manned by an 18 year-old new kid who has to page the manager to come up and help for every transaction.

Nothing like shopping for 10 minutes and then waiting in line for 20. Where's that Cabela's catalog?

How about that they stock 15 styles of oars but no oarlocks? They have Stren Superbraid but only in 65lb and 80lb? Along with Sportco, they always run out of pencil lead and Corkies during steelhead season? They carry mooching rods but not the reels? Their pro packs of Owner cutting points are something like $12.99 for sizes smaller than 1/0 but 1/0 and bigger are $17.99? They won't special order anything. The "kids" behind the sporting goods counter cringe when I come in now. I try to be nice but they got tired of my constructive critism.
I could go on. Shopping at the Lakewood store is frustrating to say the least. I haunt the place because they often miss price items and the cashiers make mistakes. Don't get me wrong here... I am not a theaf. When you ask the cashier if she is sure the discount is correct and she argues with you, what can you do. $80.00 shoes on sale less 20% (as marked) and she discounts them at an additional 20%. Whew! How can you pass that up?

Sorta like Fred Meyers.

As far as Joe's goes, Ive never had a problem with having to wait or the 18yo not able to perform their job. I guess the Puyallup store has a good crew working for them.

Ive been shopping at Joes even before they were in the P.S. area. They can be pricey on many Items but they can also have good sale prices on others.

I've had kind of the opposite experiences lately. I stopped in the Kent store day before yesterday to buy my fishing license and some other supplies (but I forgot my $40 gift card so I only bought my fishing license). On that visit, the person helping me was genuinely nice and had my combo fishing license to me in just a couple of minutes, great service.
I also stopped in yesterday and this time brought the gift card. Again, the checker was very kind and friendly, another good experience.

I don't shop there often (though I'm within walking distance of the Lynnwood store) but when I do I've had no complaints. Recently they had a sale going on for 20% off anything in the store other then clearance items, I asked them for 10-100 packs of Gami hooks and the guy behind the counter said that the 20% sale was for 2 items only but he would see if the manager would let me have them all for the sale price, after talking to the manager and telling him why I needed so many he said no problem, he didn't have to do it but he did, thats good customer service IMHO. \:D

I have had great service at Joe's (lynnwood) and I shop there once a month or so. Of course I go there expecting about what I get, if I need a particular or specialty item, I go to a specialty shop. If I need those basic items or a couple of diffent things, I will go to Joe's.

As far as the 18 year old issue, find me a group of 30 year olds that can handle the automation as efficiently as those "kids" and who will work for $10/hour, thwhich, btw keeps thier prices down.

I love Joe's. No fishing and hunting snobs to deal with like I have seen at smaller shops. I love being told I am an idiot when I plan on giving someone my money. They have some good sales. My 5 year old boy spends 100% of his weekly $2.50 allowance there and thinks it's the only store worth stopping at.

GI Joes usually has some of the best rock bottom prices you can find with a few exceptions here and there. I just wish they'd get with the program and stock more siwash vibraxes when selective rules or non-bouyant rules are in effect. Really hurts the sales when you sell out of siwash spinners but you can't sell the trebles because they aren't legal.
