I fished Lake Tye, near Monroe this evening between 4 and 8. I landed more than 15 trout. Most were 10 inchers but one was a solid three pounds and another was about two.

Hot ticket was a size eight six pack fly trolled on a sink tip line.

So who says we never share info!

Oh come on Dave, you can do better then that. The winning fish at the Kid's Derby last Sunday at Lake Tye weighed in at over 13 pounds and there are more like it in there. Our friends at Trout Lodge were very generous this year.

Try tying up a cut-plug immatation!

Beezer: Maybe I missed a decimal on my fish report. Now that I think of it, that big one must have been 30 pounds, not 3.

I did notice that both my larger fish came on a big maroon leech pattern. It was not as productive as the six pack, but both bigger fish came on it.

Summer Run: My check is in the mail. And yes I will still respect you in the morning. FYI I didn't kill any of those fish. I watched each and every one swim away. I believe that stats be dammed; I used a single barbless fly a C&R net, played them hard and released them fast. They may be a bit smarter but they are otherwise none the worse for wear. If it weren’t for the hurricane this afternoon I would have tortured a few more.

I had one take my fly on the strike, so the way I figure it you guys owe me for that fly.

Fair enough! Dave.
Thanks for the check!
You can come on down to Sky Valley Chapter when we have the next fly tying session and I'll tie you a secret Lake Tye Crayfish fly.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

How deep is Tye? When driving by it looks like one big deep channel with not alot of bottom variation like most natural lakes. Ive fished Tye and done well a few years back, it just feels strange to fish in a man-made lake so close to all those houses

It's not that deep.
Probably no more than 15 feet deep in the deepest section of the lake.

Great post Dave. If the lake had been near the canal or over on the oly pen all of the zipperlippers would have been screaming foul!

Out in the middle area is between 17'-25' deep. A friend of mine and I gridded it and mapped it several years ago.
