I have a 16 ft. boat and am looking to purchase a kicker. Any suggestions on size and make? Mainly going to be used for reservoir trolling. Thanks

Howdy Heimer,

Welcome to the forums!

As to your question, from my understanding a DB requires a long-shaft model of OB (25"?).

Also, most DB's are rated fairly light in the outboard department...probably 6-9 hp max I would guess.

I am sure there are a few posters that have OB's mounted to their drifters that will give you some sound advice.

Mike

I sometimes run a 6 hp on mine and it is plenty big enough.

Yes, you must have a longshaft, unless you have a motor well (like on starcraft tom's db he has for sale). From what I've seen on all the DB's that have motor mounts on back (including the one on my DB) it usually is a 10hp max rated. Which you don't need much more then that on them anyways. I have a 9.9 on mine.

I run a long shaft Honda 8 hp Classic on my 16x54 Willie guide model. Most of the Guides I know run 8's. Pete
