Going on a Halibut trip out of Lapush on Friday, and was thinking about staying till Saturday afternoon. Was wondering if there is any action in the Solduc, or other open rivers in the area. I noticed most of the rivers don't open till June 1. But if someone could give me some info on what is open, and producing that would be great. Thanks! ;\)

stlhd - Where do you need driving directions to?

Cyclops - Have you looked at Bob's reports page here on this site? That info is about as first-hand as you can get.

Cyclops,
There is some fish in the SolDuc, (springers and summer runs) you can keep only hatchery fish with both. The springers have a lower fin clip or missing adipose. I would say if you know the area at all just hike into a place and stay low so the fish cant see you. Eggs, sand shrimp, or even casting plugs has worked. You will have to put in the time but should have success if you can get to where others havnt. The Hoh opens on Sunday and should be quite good, being that there was a good number of fish in their before the closure. Give me a call and we will talk some more, 683-2598. tomoorow will be a good time to call, if I am not here just leave a message and will call you back right away.

Thanks Matt! My partner talked to the guide we'll be fishing for halibut with, and he said there were a few fish to be had too. I guess we'll pick his brain while we're out fishing. I guess halibut, and ling fishing has been really good. Nothing real big 15-40#. But this will be my first halibut trip, and I'll be happy with what ever size fish I get into. Thanks for offering to share some more info over the phone. I'll try to give you a call around noon. Thanks again.
