Hope someone can help me. My Northriver deserves good speakers have narrowed it down to these two choices Bose 131s will have to cut a hole in my boat Iv'e gotten over that they will mount in front of driver and passenger by knees. second choice 151s they will have wall mounts 151s are a 3 speaker arangement 131s are a 4" only. will the 131s carry enough sound and will the 151s have enough bass? Hope someone can help.

Personally I would stick to marine speakers. If you listen to music with a lot of bass get the largest speakers that will fit. The smaller the speaker the less bass it can physically produce and visa versa. Pioneer makes a very good marine speaker that can be submersed in water and still operate. If you get water on those bose speakers they will probably be toast. I used to work for the Good Guys for three years and car, marine and home audio was my forte'. JM2C.

Those are marine speakers, I've heard the 131's and they were the best marine speaker I've heard, haven't heard the151's so I can't help you there, don't think you would be disappointed with any Bose speaker.

Everyone I know swears by the 151's. Great sound and durability in marine environment. Bose knows how to get amazing bass out of a small box. Only drawback is the $$.

My bad. I was thinking of the 201's. Sorry. So much for my Forte' lol. I would like to say though that another thing to consider to get the best sound out of your speakers is an amplifier. It used to be that bose never listed their speakers power ratings but I would check and see if the ones of your choice has a rating. Speakers are listed with RMS power ratings (continuous). Mobile stereos are listed in Peak power ratings which are much higher than their actual RMS power. A stereo that is rated at say 45 watts per channel will actually only really produce about 10 to 15 watts RMS. This may be too low to get the best sound out of your speakers and underpower is often the actual cause of a speaker to blow due to the distortion caused when you turn your stereo up and the speaker moves irregularly.

Thanks everyone for your input Let me correct one thing, the 151s are 151se new speaker round half moon shape with three speakers articulated array they produce a stero everywhere sound 5 year transferable limited warranty, test for 1,200 hrs with a salt fog test.price 289.00 the 131s 228.00 being placed by knees would they still produce the stero everywhere sound and would they have a good base, for the extra money are they worth it, or Hey if I'm going to spend that much what the heck?
