Anybody know where I can get a locking gas cap for a 2600 striper. Had someone siphon about 100.00 worth of gas from my boat at Lapush the other night and I dont want it to happen again.

Locking caps are a great precaution.... probably a lot of siphoning expected to happen as gas prices continue into the stratosphere!

Locking gas caps aren't legal on marine waters, Coast Guard wants to have quick access to your fuel if there is an emergency (sinking) and they need to pump your tank, at least thats what a guy from the Coast Guard auxillary explained to me a couple years ago.

A locking gas cap won't stop the bad guys.

I searched the Coast Guard web site and couldn't find any references to that law. Anyone know for sure, or where to find the law about it?

I think if they were readily available they would be good selling items, neither Boaters World or West Marine sale them and I have never seen 1 in any of our (Boaters World) vendor catologues, must be a reason why!

The uscg.mil site has a reference in a check list for a gas cap key. I guess if I was serious about adding a locking gas cap, I'd just call the coast guard.

Hey don't be sad.... That beats someone putting 4-5 lbs of sugar in your gas tank!! I wouldn't mind getting one too..

Yeah I have seen that type of gas cap I was just wondering if anyone knew of another brand. That one wont mount where the fill is located.
