Looking for anyone who has experience with these two sonars/chartplotters. I was settled on the Garmin 172C Chart Plotter and an X105C Lowrance Sonar. However, the X105C doesn't split the screen between 50 and 200. Went down to Outdoor Emporium today looking at the X18C or 19C and may be changing my mind on that Garmin and X105C. Just interested in hearing about anyone's experience and what they think of the Navionic's charts. Thanks!

Mike, I have a Garmin 215 and a Garmin 176c and like them both, but this spring I picked up an X-19 to replace the old LMS 350a and can not say enough good about it so far.

I have had Lowrance products and have been through the pain of sending them in to be repaired etc. All I can say is I hope this one holds up, so far so good and it was a pleasure to use in the ocean, the depth finder worked great and the color chart work excellent and it was very easy to read.

I have not bought any charts for it yet, I have just downloaded from the disk, which was enough for me, since I already have all the charts on the Garmin units.

Check them out, you won't be dissapointed.

Steve

Mike, for the price you would spend on the LCX-18/19 have you looked at either the Furuno 1650 or 1850? similar units to the Lowrance at a similar price and much better quality, over the past year or so I have sent in alot of Lowrance products for warranty work, there competing now with Raymarine as the 2 companies that send out the most "lemons" (IMHO) and unlike Raymarine who, if they can't fix it they send you a new 1(if its still under warranty), Lowrance has sent some of my customers "reconditioned" units to replace a unit they can't fix, I hate having to explain to a guy why he's getting stuck with a "reconditioned" unit to replace his 1 month old LCX-19 that he just paid $2000 for.

As for the Navionic's cartography, its good stuff, same as C-map or Garmin, that being said, my nod goes to Garmin at $149 as opposed to $199 for Navionics or C-map.

Furuno gives you the choice of Navionics or C-map

FishNg1 and AkKings I appreciate the response. I had a Lowrance depth sounder for over ten years, but sold it along with the boat it was on to get the new boat. It was a great sounder and no problems. I have heard that Lowrance has had problems with some of their current units, specifically the one's with the charts. That is one of the reasons I made this post, to see what current or past owners experienced. In the end I may just stick with the Garmin. Got a lot of positive responses on their chart plotters.

I am going to check out the Furuno models sugested tomorrow. Well, so far one positive and one negative on the Lowrance. I will see what else comes in.

Again, thanks so much for the info. Mike

Mike, I've loved my Lowrances over the years. I started with the LMS350 (excellent), LCX-18 (great), and now a LCX19 (awesome). I sent you a "pm", BTW.
