Well, this Saturday will be my virgin voyage for springers on the Lewis River. I was just wondering what are your favorite lures for them color, size etc. I have fished for kings in the salt but know nothing about what these early run fish will take. Thank you for any input.

Back Bouncing Eggs should be effective in the deeper holes ...

This, and some what-nots seem to work. ;\)

Here's what I'd bring along. Fish where appropriate. Not in any particular order, and this is for someone with a boat, as I don't bank it any more.

Cured eggs. Add to that a sandshrimp tail. Backbounce or run behind a diver.

Cut plugged herring.

Sardine wrapped K-15's.

Chartreuse or rainbow home made Spinners trolled in the Meat Hole. Troll ONLY if others are trolling in the Meat Hole. If everyone is hovering fishing eggs, don't be surprised if shots are fired over your bow for trolling. Do as they do and when they do, or be prepared for the consequences.

PS - Only one of the springers I've pulled out of the Lewis this season has been in the Meat Hole. You can fish there, but I don't understand why you'd want to.

You should put some what-nots on your eggs, but since I'm not willing to tell you what that is, never mind. ;\)

Besides, I've just now given away most of my NF Lewis river secrets. That should be enough information for anyone to catch a fish.

Boat: Back bounce eggs, or back troll plugs( wiggle warts, tad pollys k-13 kwik fish)

Colors Fluorescent red, cerise with black bill, and chrome/red or chrome chartreuse.

for eggs I like a 3-4' leader with a 3/0 hook (owner) I use an eight inch dropper tied to a slider. Some times I will use a size 10 clear jet diver on a 6-8" dropper tied to a slider

The std and mag size brads divers work real well with a sand shrimp and spin-n-glo.

Bank: I would bobber fish the deeper holes , and drift fish the faster water; using eggs w/ shrimp.....Ross

Thank you all for the input. I'll bring some eggs, some kwickfish and some what-nots. lol. I am going with someone who has experience on the river so hopefully we'll bring home some chrome.
