Some of my fishin buddies want me to take them down the Cedar when it opens. I've never floated it (why the h... would I?) ANY advice would be helpful. I'm taking my 16 ft. cat.

Yah, maybe on an inner tube or a small pontoon boat.I highly doubt taking a drift boat down the cedar right now would be worth the effort of dragging over the shallows and lots and lots of downed trees from this winters storms.Like said above take a long hard look first. When I was a kid walking the banks was great fun, caught lot's of large trout.Good luck,

I floated the Cedar two weeks ago to scout it out. You will come across 3 log jams around mile marker 21 and if you float it in a small pontoon, you can make it under the 1st. And over the 2nd. and 3rd. BUT watch out for the nasty little hornets nest on the right side of the river. (witch is where you need to cross)
My cousin and I were stung 6 times between the two of us.
Also when we floated it, we noticed the largest concentration of fish in the lower streach. (below the golf course, and above Car Co Park)
I wouldn't recomend you taking your 16 footer. We used 9 fotters and still had to drag them over many of the shallows. When you see the exit river sign, your gona have a hell of a time dragging your boat out, up the rocks, over the fence, and to the parking lot. If you wana miis it all togeather put in somewhere below Lower Jones Rd Bridge

Good Luck \:D
