If we only have only one week of the year to hit these for KINGS, which week would be the most productive?

Say a 20+ foot boat.

For argument's sake, let's just ASSUME it's open for kings during the peak period (don't worry, we'll check before we go.)

Tip: We do better when we add a dummy-flasher off the downrigger.

Area 5 (Sekiu) is open for Hatchery Kings 7/1 to 8/10 or until the 3,500 fish quota is met. I can't remember how long it remainded open last year.

Anyone?

The quota was not met at Sekiu last year, as far as I remember, because they switched over to hatchery only. In years when any kings were legal, the Season shut down in a few days. We caught a number of kings last year, but only got one legal hatchery fish.

I might suggest Neah Bay. For the first part of the season you do not have to go out around Tatoosh for a keeper king.

Mid July was excellent last year in Neah Bay for numbers of big Kings. Though I'd suggest the first week of August because there will still be a lot of nice Chinooks and also more of the larger Coho around. The Chinook guideline hopefully should last at least untill then.

The kings are around starting in June but most of my slabs, over 30, are caught around the weekend after 07/04 and on. I had a worse hatchery rate at Sekiu last year. 22 kings in 5 days and not one clipped although I bet 90% were hatchery. All around 20 pound cookie cutters. A pure "providing opportunity" fishery now and nothing about protecting nates in my opinion.

Good replies, guys.

I was also wondering how LATE in the season it's still "great" fishing for Kings there....into Sept. (?) or has it slowed down quite a bit my then?

Thanks.
