Are the minus tides this week going to mess up the Rock Pile and the other areas for Halibut fishing this week? Or, are they still going to produce at slack anyway?

Is the Boat Haven ramp able to launch a 20' boat with a zero tide?

Anyone have a report from the derby?

I'd wait until the following weekend if possible! Those tides next week won't give you any window at all - the way I see it? As far as the Derby they had some really large fish this year. Winner was 156 pounds. What a truck load. Then they went 132,116,104 100 and 99 pounds. There were 751 entrants in this years derby and it was herlded as a great success! We managed to place 7th and 26th so gas money was ours!!! That's my $.02.

hey Seacat, did I heard there is a -4.1 on Friday, is that right? I've seen negative tides before but I don't ever recall a tide like that!

RWB,

Thanks for the report and the advice on this week's tides. Congrats on catching a couple. Can you give anay tips or other advice about how you were able to find and hook them? Do you use spreader bars and herring or do you have some other favorite baits? Octopus? Salmon strips? Lead headed Jigs? Inquiring minds would like to know! \:D

UM, yup, I think that is about as low as it gets around here. When my dad lived on Fox Island, we would work on the submerged pully and rope setup for mooring the boat during these extreme tides. Always had to grab a crab or two while we were at it!
