I know you can have no more than 4 shrimp pots per boat , but is there a limit on crab pots for boats?

Thanks
Kris

Hey Kris! Nope, as many as you can fit in the boat (people and traps)!

Thanks guys. That's what I thought, but it's always better to be sure.

Well I went crabbing on opening day and to my surprise the sport season opener was also the same day that the Skok tribe started there commerical season. I only have one question for the WDFW what the hell were they thinking of when you have sport and the tribes start on the same day. I watched the tribes pull up pots for 4 hours and they were taking everything, they also were putting there pots within 20 ft. of mine. I can tell you for a fact if something is not done soon about how the tribes continue on depleting the resources there will be trouble to pay. I'm tired of the tribes getting all the special perks. While I'm pulling my pots by hand the tribes were using power pullers. Also the tribes were selling the crabs at the Salsbury State park and taking up all the parking spots. From the remarks that I heard from other sport crabbers they are also tired of the tribes and if things don't change soon the sportsman are going to start taking things into there own hands and this is not going to be a pretty site. So if any of the WDFW read this post you better start doing something soon before someone gets hurt or boats start getting sunk. One other thing we did get some nice crabs but it took us twice as long to get them.

That particular tribe does not give a rip about what you or WDFW thinks...they do what they want....do you support their casino? buy their cigarettes? They will take all the crab and there isn't a damn thing you can do about it. they cheat on their reporting and everyone at WDFW knows it. Not a damn thing you can do about it. As long as prople keep buying what they sell it will never end until all the fisheries are ruined.

Same down south in area 11. They only pulled there pots a month ago, after fishing since September, and I noticed a string of gear starting at the oil dock off Tramp Harbor to Pt Robinson. There goes the neiborhood. I don't know how they think that the resource can hold up under that kind of pressure. I've noticed the sport pressure increase 100 fold in the last three years. I'm afraid it will be like the area 11 shrimp opener. TWO WEEKENDS LONG!
