What kind of summer run return does the snoqualmie get? Worth trying at all?

Not sure numbers wise, but keep in mind the Snoqualmie is restricted gear only until December 1 to protect the non-existant, man made, native run of Tolt River summer runs.

Relatively few in recent years. I believe they have reduced the plants substantially. I've done better on the Sky, probably because of the ability to use bait there.

Jacob -
Sorry but the Tolt (more specifically its forks) is one of the areas that historically support native summer steelhead in the Puget Sound region. Other areas include Canyon Creek and Deer Creek on the Stillaguamish, South Fork Nooksack, North Fork Skykomish, and a handful returning to a couple of Skagit Tribs.

Now I can understand why some may not like restrictive regulations to protect a limited resource, especially when it makes it more difficult to catch hatcery fish. However, if we value wild resources those type of rules are often necessary. Since those fishery management changes were made on the Snoqualmie and Tolt the escapement of wild summer steelhead on the South Fork has made its escapement goal every year except this spring while in the decade prior to that change it didn't make the goal once.

Kanektok-
You are welcome!

The Tolt has had a special place in my fishing as it was the location of my first steelhead (a summer) on the fly. That was more than 40 years ago and in my mind's eye I can still see the fish taking my Royal Coachman.
