I was just informed that that notorious crab pot thief that was working off of Potlatch on the Hood Canal was busted. He had Five pots that belonged to other people in his boat and another 10 or twelve on the beach where he was stashing them. I really hope they put the screws to him.

His sentence should be chained to the pots dragging them wherever he goes.

Sweet, I lost one out there last year & can now go with a little less worries. Might be others working out there too. I wonder if I identify my gear can I get it back? I think for punishment he should be tied down on the beach naked with some smelly bait piled on.

That is good news. Hopefully they get a well deserve fine and jail time. The sad thing is there are many more who push the limits of the law.

yeessss! finally 2 were good (kept um), 1 was fresh so i moved it shallower, 1 was so old the rope was 2.5 inch in diameter. it was covered in every type of sea creature imagineable. thousand of guys had trolled over it ! i also found 2 floating in the shipping channel and found one, a brand new, stainless still pot(100$) . the top 1 inch of flag was all that was sticking out of the water! that one i moved shallower it had 2 silver salmon heads for bait that were fresh beatiful fish(like that days), and was in quarter master harber

Good News! I'll contact the cops and see if my pot is among the loot. I pulled my pots off the water this AM in anticipation of another hit this weekend, should have left them in, was limiting every day:( Was a real hassle, especially in the wind, but I was able to fish safely all week by tangling them all up when I set them - one big wad of buoys does not look so easy to snatch and grab like this nitwit was doing. Crab bait is my vote - can't make the crabs taste any worse than all the $hit leaking into the Canal does

I'd like to know where and when his trial is. I'm thinkin I'd like to be there.
