I'm possibly going to alaska after aug. 17 for some coho fishing. It's up in the air of where we'll be going. Anybody have any recomendations on a place to go catch larger, crome, coho. Lodges, do-it-yourself,...... whatever. Would also like to bring back some halibut.

BB Your timing is good. I have done well then at Alagnak Lodge. Although no halibut there. The Kenai is also good then. You might try Bob Ball, Mark Glassmaker or Greg brush. They do the Kenai, but can hook you up with halibut guys out of Deep Creek.

Sitka, Sitka and Sitka. Might even get a couple of nice kings that time of year. Try Buckroyd.com Tom Buckroyd has a great setup, Lodge in town and great boats and guides, Space is the only concern. Last time we went halibut fishing with him we had 5 fish over 125#, way to big for me. You get 6 silvers, 1 king and 2 halibut a day and the lodge freezes and vacuum packs them every night.

If you want a shot at bigger coho, the KP nor Sitka are not the places to do it. Perhaps look at something out of Cordova, it's one of the few places that will offer you a shot at the bigger coho like you see down south ... most coho fisheries up here are for smaller, but better fighting fish than you'd see for example on the OP.

There should be some charter boats there as well that will run out to around Montague Island or other areas for some halibut fishing.

Have fun!

Ketchikan has some great silver fishing in Aug/Sept.
I fished out of Ktown for 5 years and the only thing I miss about that area over where I'm at now (west side of P.O.W. Is) is the silver fishing, every season I caught alot of 15 to 20 lbs. silvers over there, I have only caught 2 or 3 over 15 on this side of the island in 8 years, the numbers are excellent whichever side of the island you fish but definitely bigger on the other side. Wouldn't trade it for our king fishing though ;\)

Thank you gents on your input. I should have also added that the preference is for coho in a river/estuary setting. thanks again.
