I was wondering if anyone new of a place where my dad could buy a Jet motor that is in good condition for $2500 or less? It it even possible to get a jet that is in good condition for that amount of money? We are looking for one between 40 and 75 horse power by the way.

Thanks for any advice!!!!

I was on the Cowlitz Friday and talking to somone that is selling a 60hp with pump. I think it was an Evenrude if I remember correctly. He said the add should be in the buy and sell and boat trader. It sounds like a good motor and he was asking just under 2k. He also said he is located in Tacoma. Ill keep looking for it and if I find it Ill let ya know.

I take that back, our boat is only rated for a motor up to a 40 horsepower. So if anyone has any info on a 40 horse jet or less, I would love to hear about it.

Thanks again!

well you gotta remember that a jet's horsepower output is typically a lot less than a prop with the same powerhead

a 40 jet typically has the same horsepower as a 25 prop

I have a 1971 40 hp Johnson that I completley rebuilt 2 years ago. New piston, rings, bearings, etc. Rebuilt the pump with a new liner, & then welded the impeller up & turned it to match the liner.

Got it all done & on the boat & it would not get the boat up on a plane, thinking it was too small, I bought a 70hp. Only to find out later that I had the clamshell adjusted wrong. I would take $750 for the whole unit. That is what I have in it. It has been setting since then, with probably only an hour run time on it.

I had it set for controls, but have the tiller handle for it as well. Sorry but no controls.

Thanks for the reply machinist! If the motor runs well I am interested to say the least. Do you think you could post a picture of the motor?

I will see if I can uncover it from the rest of the neat stuff in my barn & figure out how to post a picture in a couple of days.

I have a buddy that has a 40hp Yamaha jet for sale in Aberdeen.

I don't know much about it but he says it runs great and he went to a 4 stroke so wants to sell the 2 stroker.

If you are interested I'll get his phone number.
