I'm new to fishing out of LaPush. I checked SalmonUniversity and it looks like the rock pile is teh normal "off shore" spot.

What other areas within 15 miles or so are good bets in early July?

Thanks in advance!

I am also new to La Push and have been only doing the bottom fish thing so far. I believe last year the hot salmon area was off Umatilla Reef, which is 15?? or so miles north. Guys were coming north from La Push or south from Neah Bay to hit the reef area.

Umatilla is a good spot but it is a bit of a run. The rockpile is also a decent place.

What we end up doing is heading out past skunk (buoy) and start trolling due west until we hit fish then we start trolling north-south. Seems like once you find the band of them you will fill up quickly. I can't remember being back to the dock later than about 9:00 a.m. out there. Red hot. I can't wait. I will be there in three weeks.

We've always filled the boat out at the rockpile. I'm heading up on friday and I think we're going to run up to umatilla to target kings then head to the pile if we need to finish up the limit of silvers. Gramps said that the fish were inside of the pile on sunday. Roughly 6 miles out. But that can change from day to day.

Good luck and be careful. South winds will kick your but out of la push.
