Anyone fishing Redondo right now? Was thinking of going this weekend and was looking for the scoop.

Might be a few fish coming into the area, but the end of the second week expect to see the bulk numbers. Fish will be screamin' through there right now...

I recommend fishing over to the west in the PD area for a shot at large local fish and a few early returners.

Thanks Downriggin.

I've never fished PD before. Would a 15' Whaler be adequate out there? I usually fish either Redondo or point Robinson as the marinas are only a short hop away.

Thanks again!

15' should be fine. Sometimes you get some big rips and waves right off the point that you need to watch out for. In my younger years I fished PD a lot in a 12 footer.

We fish 15 Whalers 15 miles out in the deep blue from Hakai pass with 20 horse outborads. I would not hesitate to run anywhere in the sound with one suffciently powered with winds forecast below 40mph. It just a bumpy ride home sometimes.

I fish out of a 16'r these days... You'll see quite a few old timers fishing 12 and 14 footers out at the Point.

A common sense approach should dictate with weather conditions. The nor'easter at PD can get ugly for us small boat guys. A good power plant helps too.
