Any big/small/medium exciting trips planned?

I am headed out for 10 days to the Okanogan with my 5 year old boy next week. fishing lakes ,streams and ponds. Maybe hop the border for the wiley Kamaloops trout. I enjoy watching him and seeing the excitment in him that I had as a kid more than my trips to Ak and BC or anywhere else as an adult. Another 10 days late aug somewhere not sure yet.

How about you?

Two weeks on Vancouver Is. which includes one trip out of Ucalet(sp) for kings and silvers. Also I have time set aside for a possible Lake Wahington sockeye fishery.

St. Helens for some trout, two weeks later salmon at La Push, then to Kansas City for work, come back and leave next day to fish the Rockies in B.C., then off to the Bow in Alberta for trout, get back and new boat will be done, then off to Banks Lake, come back and head to Seiku early September, back here for more Silvers, then off to San Francisco at the end of Sept. October will be Fall Kings on the Columbia.

Fishing the Cowlitz and So. Fork Toutle this summer as much as possible. Going on a trip out of Depot Bay called "Extreme Fishing" in August. It's where you go out like 40 miles in a Zodiac type craft with twin outboards. The thing goes over 50 mph and you have to wear a wetsuit. Once you get out you fish for tuna, halibut, and salmon. In September I'm going to Sekiu for a week for salmon and rockfish with 11 other guys. Should be alot of fun.

All my fun came early this summer.

Went to Abaco Island, in the Bahamas, in May on a trip I gave myself for the big 50th birthday. This was for bonefish on the fly. Went with a good fishing buddy from here in Tacoma and my brother, who lives in Beaufort, N.C. It was a fabulous trip. The first bonefishing for each of us. We each caught on to the bonefishing thing. And my brother had a shot at a big permit. As well, my brother caught a 45 lb. barracuda on an 8 wt. flyrod. I thought that fly fishing for bonefish was just about the perfect form of fishing. It combines hunting and fishing; the fish are plentiful; they will bite if you do things correctly; you pay for your mistakes, but when you get one on, it truly is spectacular. I'd read and read and read about it, tied my own flies, and anticipated the trip for 8 months, but to have that bonefish melt the line and backing off your reel at about 25 mph has to be experienced to really be appreciated. And the food and the Kalik beer and the food and the Kalik beer. And the Kalik beer. Great place, great people, great guides, great food. And did I mention the Kalik beer and tropical sunsets? I'll be back!

Also lucked in to a trip to Sitka, from which I just returned. Just about the best saltwater fishing for salmon that I could imagine. Halibut was a bit tough and we had to scratch for them, but the salmon were large, plentiful and extremely willing.

Still looking forward to: A trip or two to Rocky Ford on the full moon; a trip to Waitsburg, WA to fish the Touchet and Tucanon rivers and flyfishing for silvers and steel on the Kalama in September.

TK,

We went to Conconully Reservoir (Okanogan) for the trout opener at Liars Cover Resort. That's a pretty good kids fishing opportunity.

End of July, we'll be headed to Honeymon State Park in Oregon. I imagine I'll be giving the Siuslaw River a try.

Jeff'ed,

We call my son Mr. Conconully as it's his favorite place on earth. We always stay at the cove when up there. I like the lake more than the res. Bunch of smaller lakes up there as well along with some creeks. Great place for kids

A little backpacking into some zipper lakes in the Sawtooth wilderness for big cutts, Neah Bay surface silvers in Aug and as many local kings and steelies as I can find. And I better take care of my wife with a shopping trip or two or that list will be much shorter...

I like to spend a long weekend every summer camped on the lower Hoh. Usually very quiet, great low water floats, and the sky at night on the coast is incredible!
