Well with 18K fish going through the locks yesterday I figured this afternoon would be a good time to zip down to Ballard and have a look-see with Olivia my 4yo.

I have fond memories of my childhood when my Dad would bring me down to see the sockeye at the locks and grab a bite at Fishermans terminal, so I am carrying on the tradition.

We got down there after dinner and the fish were in thick as suspected. They have a strong average size this year. Usually they seems to run about 4-5 on average, this year they look to be 6-7 pounds on average. A good sign!
Here are a few pictures to help tell the story.

Ok, put on your polarized glasses and take a look at this picture \:D . Fish are in really thick under the ladder.

And here are a couple pictures from inside the viewing room at the top of the ladder-

If these counts keep up I would guess that they will open it up Friday when they make the annoucement on Wednesday.
If you haven't brought your kids down to the locks to see this, I highly recommend it!

Went down to the locks friday afternoon, with cd seattle and his wife and kid's and my daughter, lot's of sockeye shooting through the ladder, couple of kings probably about 20# came through while we were there, alot of the sockeye we saw were up close in the 10# range we were guessing, hope everything holds true for a sport fishery this year? the gal at the locks doing the tour was saying there still expecting a 500, 000 fish year, let's keep our fingers crossed, Doug
