I was talking to some guides on the cowlitz and they were not happy about the boating ethics out there today. when boats were jetting up river from below the overhanging tree, up to the wall, they were running right next to the channel almost throwing clients out of the boats that were fishing. I am sure other fisherman were not happy either. Anyhow, there is plenty of water to run all the way up to yhe gravel bar where they fish from that campground. I run my sled thru there all the time it is 2.5-3 ft deep all the way up to the top, Mabey these people were just newbies to the river? Just my 2 cents worth.

What???? Boat crackers on the cowlitz....say it isnt so. \:D
Yeah, you'll see it all there. One of my all time favorites was watching this guy boondog the hatchery drift by dragging his 50lb anchor Shoulda seen it when he caught one of those big boulders.
Sometimes its more fun to watch the boat show rather than try to fish it.

It shows that just because you can afford a nice boat, you don't have to have any common sense.

100 boats on a moving swimming pool. There's lots of room there just the new one's don't know were to run. If your running in the green water you maybe run over fish and guides don't like that. The crowds are bad down there so be careful.I'am going tomorrow it's bad when you have to get up at 2:00 am to get a spot when you liv 20 min away. Were in the DB tomorrow.

I ran it last Wedsnday with a buddy. Day started to suck as I was tying up at the launch at Blue Creek. Back seized up and I went down. Decided to fish anyway. My buddy had never boondogged before and he had to run the kicker because I couldn't lift it....lol

Yeah, that was interesting...he finally got the hang of it and we managed not to hit anyone else or run aground. Had two take downs but no fish. AS far as the manners go.... I saw short tempers from both guides and other folks. One pet peeve I have is when drift boats or sleds try to pull plugs or anchor right in the middle of the drift. Or when they leave you no room anywhere to run upstream without crossing lines...

I got legitimately yelled at when I ran up too close behind a guy playing a fish. I swerved in plenty of time and he got the thing in... I had to sit to drive because I couldn't stand straight up.....All things considered...people were pretty well mannered.

Bottom line- It's the Cowlitz...Don't go there and expect privacy or everyone to have good manners... Try to have some yourself and put some fish in the box.

I fished with two other guys yesterday from the bank, we caught 11 fish and hooked about 15 others with a single #1 size hook.
