Can someone clarify the salmon fishing days at Neah? I read it is open all week. But someone said only Sunday thru Thurday. I looked at the WDFW web site also. Does anyone know how close they are to the quota? I'm going this weekend.

I did'nt see that it was closed, just halibut. we'll be fishing mornings at sekui and go over to neah bay for bottomfish I think. That is unless they close sekui for salmon. There is a way smaller quota at sekui than at neah bay, but I'm sure both will be open.

Fished it for the first time in my life Thursday, Friday and Saturday with another board member. We did extremely well on Thurs, very well on Friday and fair on Saturday.

Hey Jerry....got an extra seat? I'm right on the way and can crank up a downrigger with the best of them...

Heck...that goes for anyone who wants to fill their boat to maximize opportunity. ..I can see myself getting hooked on that fishery pretty quickly....I NEED RIDES!!

You could always rent that kicker at Big Salmon! ;\)

It was a 6 hour drive via the Narrows yesterday.

Thanks for the info guys, I hope to see some of you up there. I'm in the 26' Grady that says popular mechanics on the side.

We'll be monitoring 68 most of the time so give a shout.

Stlhdh2o, we will be fishing the Canadian side primarily, so you would have to have a Canadian license.

We were using cut plug with a fish flash and a green glow splatterback flasher with a herring aid we were in 120-130 feet of water near the garbage dump and we fished the cut plug 55 feet down and the other 100 feet down hope this helps and good luck !!!

No Aunty, not yet. I had the driftboat stored in his yard.

On the 16' kicker I was trolling whole herring with an eight ounce rock at 100 to 180 pulls.

That 10 1/2' Shimano rated 12 to 25# and 4 to 8 ounces handled it quite easily. I love Knucklebusters!

Interesting that the NB fishing was good inside. NB charter boats (Satin Doll & Sugarfoot) were fishing off Umatilla with the fleet where we were last weekend.

Gutz, I hear ya on the knucklebuster set-up, I fished kings 3 days using nothing but the 10'6" Canadian Moocher rod & 2000GT reel with 12# line and the same spoon. What a blast!

Gutz,
You mentioned renting a kicker form Big Salmon, do they rent just kicker motors?
I just purchased a 16' Searay with and I/O but no kicker, and I need one for trolling and insurance. Not sure when I can get the money to buy one but renting sounds like an option.

I don't think they rent just kickers.

I have rented from AA Rentals a number of times.
