My brother is getting married Labor Day weekend in Washougal and I will have a ton of out-of-staters the week before Labor Day. I need to get some of the folks out for a fish. I have a 26ft boat and can launch most places. I've never fished the Columbia during the fall, only for Springers. Can anyone help w/suggested areas for Silvers/Kings first part of Sept?
Thanks in advance-

You could also go to Buoy 10 if they don't close it. It will probably more of a coho show though. Go to http://www.salmonuniversity.com/wtc_buoy_10.html for maps and info. Also if you go down there, Blutos pizza in Long Beach has good pie and even better calzones. Phillie style. Theres a plug for ya, Bruce. ;\)

Buoy 10 or even better yet out past Buoy 4 is dynamite that time of year without the crowds. Last year was easy limits for large silvers (10-18 lbs) in the ocean. Set the downriggers @ 30 ft for silvers and 80 for kings. If fishing buoy 10 set a downrigger right on the bottom for kings.

Go straight out of Washougal, head upriver about 2 miles, and fish Reed Island. Close, and plenty of fish. Close enough in fact, that you could run shifts. You need the same anchoring gear as for springers, and either Alvin spoons, spinners, or wrapped kwickies. Fish deeper, like 30 to 50 feet.

If you want to drive up to Longview from Washougal fish just outside of the Cowlitz at the Longview port docks and under the Longview to Rainier bridge. It is a sure bet to catch a fish from around sep 5 to sep 14th. We caught at least one each day during that stretch and have limited the boat out on the 8, 9, 10, and 11th three years in a row. It's easy to find this zipper lip fishin hole just look for the 300 other boats. You fish in 50 feet of water and an alvin type of lure is the one too go with. You have to remember you can only keep one chinook a day out of your two salmon a day limit though this year. Hope this helped.
