Planning a trip to Seikiu in early September. I have not fished over there for many years. I am looking at leaving the Thursday before Laobr Day and coming back the Tuesday after Labor Day. I am targeting Silvers.

I know it will be crowded Labor Day Weekend, but is it best to fish that weekend or the middle of September for the run?

Thanks!

I'll be there from Sept.7 thru the 11th. I've had good luck from the last week in Aug. on into mid Sept. Hope you have a great trip.

The only problem with being there over Labor Day will be finding a spot to stay. Unless you already have reservations at a motel or cabin, you won't find any available know. The other thing you'll run into is that none of the resorts will take a reservation for a campsite or RV spot, its all first come first served at Sekiu. The resorts will tell you they'll have room but it sucks to get there and find out you'll be camping in a parking lot on gravel. \:\(

Oh yea,the fishing for Silvers is already good. The advantage to waiting until later in Sept. will be the bigger fish.

Up by the landing strip there is an RV park with tent sites in a small field in the trees. It is not very crowded, you aren't packed in like sardines like at Olson's, and the people are very nice. The RV spots are full hookups and grassy lots and a nice bathroom. Much better than the gravel parking lots at Olson's.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I already have a room reserved over the weekend. I think I will just stick with the current plan and hey, if the fishing is good or getting better there is nothing keeping me from going back later in the month. Sounds like there should be fish around over Labor Day weekend.

As always I appreciate the replies.

If you have a half a clue as to what you're doing, you should have days where you'll C&R 40-50 Silvers or more. We go up there every year. Our standard gear is a Steelhead rod with a 1-3 oz. mooching sinker and a cut-plug herring. Start trolling about 1/2 mile out of the marina and you'll be in business.
