I am a Bank fisherman who has been fishing for many years. We always fish in the morning and get on the rivers before the sun comes up. Recently I hear several fisherman swear to me that the evening bite is sometime better than the AM bite. One good reason I enjoy fishing in the AM is because if I get my limit early I'm home by noon. Do any of you guys like the PM fishing and is it just as good? I can see that the rivers are probably less crowed in the PM ( I hate combat fishing ).

Depends on the river. I've been fishing the Cow a lot lately and from the bank it becomes a lot tougher in the AM, so many boats, much fewer in the evening. The evening bite can be quite good, but you have got to be ready to stay until sunset, which can make a long day.

I agree with eddie, In crowded conditions sometimes sleeping in and fishing in the evening can be much more productive due to fewer lines in the water.
But my favorite time to fish is the am.

FishAddict:

Morning time, nothing like being on the river bank as the sun is comming up, the peace and quiet is worth the loss of a few hours of sleep.

Oh so many times, I have my fish by 6 am, summertime of course.

I also live close enough to the Chehalis, Satsop, Wynochee, Wishkah rivers that I can fish about "whenever" during the salmon season. I still like to be on the river, early, that said, I sure caught lot's of fish after work when many of the guides and other were long gone for the day.

I know one thing for sure, if you aren't on the water, for sure you aren't going to catch any kind of fish......

generally find that PM fishing....tends to B better.. the fish R less weary of preditors and move more freely on the rivers, tend to B more agressive at nite...cowlitz at nite predominately is very productive, great topic...

A lot of it depends on what the tide is doing. i.e. a late afternoon High Tide on the CR can spur a good shot of fish up the cowlitz or any other river for that matter that evening. Watch the tide, it can really help you out in determining when to hit the river...back in the days when we fished the lower Hump the tidal influx was the key to great fsihing..
