Has anyone installed a mirror to help watch the rods while trolling? My back gets sore turning sideways all day driving and watching the downriggers. Any great ideas?

Hmmm! No ideas yet, but you sure got me thinking about one. The way my neck feels today after trollling for roughly 14 hours yesterday, a mirror would be a hell of an idea. Thanks!

a swivle chair is what I have in my boat. You can buy mirrors for waterskiing that would work well though.

DL:

Buy a couple of small "plunking bells".

1. Use a cloth pin

2. long piece of heavy string or leader

Drill hole in the cloth pin, to fasten the sting or leader.

Cloth pin fastens to the guide on the rod, the closer to the tip, the better.

Fasten other end to the rod holder.

Fish hits...........bell rings........grab cloth pin, pull, should snap right off..

Grab pole.............fish on..........NO SORE NECK!!!

what the heck, its worth a try.....not much invested..

I've been thinking about installing one of the water ski mirrors from Overton's for a few years now for that purpose but have never gotten around to it... I do most of my trolling from the tiller so the only time I could use a mirror is when trolling slackwater.

Being able to stare at your rod the whole time won't make the fish bite...I swear, 9 out of 10 times I'm screwing around with tackle, the boat or, yes, even talking on the cell when I look over and notice the rigger is "popped"...Seems like the more you don't pay attention to the rod the more fish will hit..
