Anyone hearing anything about the Chinook around Hoodsport. Hooked a ton fishing for pinks last year and was looking forward to going up again. We were there the second week of August. Any word?

I was down there last week and people were doing pretty good. I was thinking about heading down there tomorrow unless I hear something promising closer to home.

Were you buzz bombing for pinks or trolling when you hooked chinook?

Seems to me that the fish are a couple of weeks late this year. Some tribal nets were set north of Lilliwaup this week (one was even set where everyone trolls near Ayock Pt. )
My guess is next week for things to really pick up down there.

Believe it or not< I was fly fishing Lefty's Deceiver's with my fly rod for Chinook with my fly rod. Knocked them dead too. Started of using stuff for pinks but got an incidental chinook and switched gear real quick. Awesome day! Anyone see people at the Hatchery fishing for them??

The guys I talked to recently were catching fish at Lilliwaup with trolling gear. Flyfishing for kings sure sounds interesting, though.

I went last year about the 3rd week of August and caught a few chinook trolling at Lilliwaup. Seemed like we should have had more for all the fish there, though.

I was staying with my family at Alderbrook resort on the canal Sunday thru Thursday, and did manage to get some fishing in. Went on Tuesday evening and saw some boats fishing the Lilliwaup area, but no nets flying. Went back at daybreak the following day and fished until about 11:30, saw one net and they said it was a small one. Lots of boats, indicating fish must be there but not alot of action. Did see some jumpers though, even saw several in front of Alderbrook, which is across from the Tahuya river.
Fished for crab too , and all we could manage was one male and tons of females. Fished lots of different areas with the same results, talked to lots of people, having the same results. Anyone know whats up with that?

Not a banner year for crab for sure.Either not in the "go to" spots or much deeper or even shallower And by this time they have been picked through many times so mostly females and few legal males.Caught bigger crab in P.S. than the Hood this year but not more

I fished the shore north of Lilliwap yesterday, got there late 7AM & saw one boated next to me at that time, nothing after that. Talked to another fisherman that was there earlier & for the 20 boats there he saw 5 fish taken.

I ran up to Ayock Point just to see what was going on when I decided to call it quits at 10:00. Some of the 30 boats there were pulling out also.

Very few boats at the hathery. But the tide was wrong for fishing the morning tide yesterday as high was at 3:30AM

Talked to the fish checker when I pulled out at the power house launch, & he said theat the best fishing was just south of Ayock point, & the bait was green Hot Spot flasher & green hoockie.

One thing DO NOT expect to use the ramp at anything from a 0.0 low tide or below. I looked at it at 10:30 & a NO GO with a low tide at about 10:51 with a -.90. There is a hole at the bottom of the concrete on the north side. Drops off about 16", & big enough that it would have needed a yard of gravel to fill. Seems that many boats are power loading & have washed gravel out & pushed it out for a hump about 20-30 feet out.
The south side, what conrete that was haphazardly poured there has holes & does not go as far down as the north side.

Fished for a while off Bald Point killing time to have the tide come in enough to take out, but only a small sole when I ran over a gravel bar, was lazy & did not bring the downrigger ball up.

Crab in the canal were hit extremely hard earlier this season by the local tribes. They had an "emergency" opener just a few days in a row before sport season started and did their best to harvest most of the keepers. I can't remember without looking it up but I think they hauled in about 16,000 lbs per day for a few days straight. Friends of mine who live in the area said crabbing has suffered this year as a result.

Oh yeah Grandpa I forgot to mention that Very frustrating to hit it on the opener and scratch for a few keepers.Although I know folks who hit it in the right spot and did well I suspected commercial overharvest

Was at the mouth of the Skok at 0 dark thrity Sunday. Notta-- unless you count the Dog fish. Moved over to Bald point about 8. Many many Sand Dabs. Jigging and trolling. Would have had a fine dinner if we could have kept them.

fished just past eagle creek saturday and it was hot "smokin" we landed 4 kings and 2 silvers and lost 5 kings. but went out today and it was slow. we fished day break and landed only 1 silver and 1 king it took all day. alot of people are jigging and it seems to work. if you see a pile of fish drop a jig right on it. I also checked hoodsport, bald point, tahuya, dawato bay and no silvers yet. Anyone know if quilcene bay is doing any good yet??
