I need some help. My company has offered me an ultimate fishing trip to Alaska. What ever I want. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've been fishing the northwest for about 40 years and fish the sky/sound very frequently. I would like to get into some Kings next June/July on some remote rivers in alaska. Have fished out of Seward, Ketchikan, and numerous places in Canada but always in open water off the coast. For once I will get to leave my sled at home and let someone else guide. I have to believe there are some good helicopter trips available to remote rivers. Although I don't know if that is necessary. I want to book my trip over the next couple months so if anyone has any contacts they would suggest I would really appreciate it. Thanks for your help.

Fins furs and feathers camp on the nushagak in early july. The king fishing should be epic and I have never heard a bad thing that camp, it is ran by travis moncreif.

Me too, I would be lucky to get a trip to Pt. Defiance. Actually, my company did send me to Kodiak once, where my two brothers lived at the time. Of course it was a business trip, being a chef, had to go out and try the restaurants up there you know. Spent the rest of the time on his boat or wading the many rivers full of nice silvers.

Ya, I am lucky. They have sent me on 3 trips. The best was out in the Islands off of Prince Rupert. I want to find a remote river in alaska to fish kings this next year. I'm only taking my father this time. Although I searched the internet intensley I really need some first hand advice.

There are some outfitters that do heli-flyouts to some of the westside Cook Inlet streams (Chuitna, Theodore, Lewis) for kings. Understand that these are "no bait" fisheries, and for at least part of the season in certain areas, I believe they are also C&R.
Personally, I would pass on the Nushagak. Having been there a few years back, I can tell you the fishing is fast and furious, but the river is loaded with 6-12# jacks. Given the choice between a 60-80 fish day fishing over a pile of 6-8 pounders versus a 6-8 fish day with the potential for hooking a 60-80 pounder, I'd take the Kenai any day!
My dream trip for kings remains the Kanektok. I've been saying "one of these days" for over 5 years now.... one of these days, I really am going... just as soon as I can break away from the comfort zone of fishing the Kenai.

If my employer was going to send me anywhere I want in Alaska I would have to research the heck out of that and go where I could never afford to go.
I agree with the Doc, I am stuck on the Kenai too. Those are quality fish and there is no where else in the world you can catch salmon of that size.
I have fished Kodiak Island a lot from boat and on foot. I love it there. The one River I have never fished on Kodiak is the Karluk (SP?) for Kings. I have talked to a lot of people who have. It comes on in June and it is a fly in float trip, no lodges to stay at that I am aware of and I understand you are pretty much guaranteed to get some Bear sightseeing in as a bonus.
Good luck, that is a heck of a deal.

If they will send you anywhere you want, check out Ron Hayes Alaska Rainbow Lodge, http://www.alaskarainbowlodge.com.
