Anyone know if the launch at Union is better than the one at Potlatch, (not that it would take much).

As I recall, Twanoh State Park has a launch. I stopped by to look at it once and remember that it was a pretty shallow ramp with no dock. Then there's the launch fee.

I believe the docks go out after Labor Day sometime. When I checked the place out, I was looking more at the creek for a shore attack on chum, and there weren't docks then...

It's probably an additional 10 minute run to Hoodsport (assuming that's where you want to go) in your boat, but probably a 20 minute drive from the 101/Purdy Creek cutoff. If you're coming from Tacoma and drive through Bremerton, it might be somewhat closer overall, d'ya think Aunty? My distances are a little hazy on the south end of the Canal. The low tide problem is another issue entirely. That sort of depends on the size of your boat... which also may be a factor in the Hoodsport water run.

The best kept secret on the Hood Canal.

7/10 of a mile past the Post office in the town of Tahuya is the Summer Tides Resort/ RV Park., Marina and boat launch. Like any launch on the hood it’s shallow, but that’s just a timing thang.

Once in the water it’s 2 ½ miles to Hoodsport, Just a hair over a mile to bald point and less than a mile to the mouth of the Tahuya. At 13 knots it takes us 45 minutes to get to Lillywop. The only time the ramp is really busy is Shrimping season, and you might have to wait 20 minutes.

Cuz nobody goes up that side of the canal, it’s mostly a dead end, there ain’t the traffic there is on the other side.

I can only suggest ya’ll check it out.

If ya’ll come down find out where I is and I’ll buy you a beer—(the keg is dry and I won’t get another tell next year)For the rest of This year you'd have to settle for a can.

well now im the man when it comes to the canal and I can tell ya the launch at union is only good to use during normal tides. minuse tides u will never get your boat out. But if u want to get up to lilliwaup, the state has a hidden ramp just before the grocery store. its not paved .
