It was so nice and calm this a.m. that I decided to cruise all the way up to Possession (from Elliot Bay). Nice ride as long as I didn't think about the price of gas. Fished the east side and had my limit of coho by 9:30 - 7 and 9 lbs. Released two kings, one pushing 20 lb.

As I go to land my last fish (I'm doing the solo thing so it's a little hariy) I get it in the net and when I lift, all I've got in my hand is the handle - the rim and net detached. Luckily it snaged the hook/line and I managed to grab it and re-net the fish. I'm sure I can fix it (again), but it may be time for a new one. Should I get a rubber net, or old fashioned fillament? The rubber ones are supposed to be better for the fish and snag proof. Anyone have experience or preference?

Beautiful fish, what did you catch them on and how deep?

I had that happen last year too. Mine had the little push button break out. I went down to Outdoor Emporium and had a new net on the counter and told them what had happened. Scott reached under the counter and pulled out a jar full of the replacement buttons. I was pretty happy as I really liked my net. They lost a $70.00 sale and made me very happy!

I'd go with rubber because it is supposed to be better for the fish and supposed to be less hook tangly.

Yeah, the push-buttom-thingy had already given up some time ago. I didn't realize that it was only the end cap on the handle that was holding it together. Maybe a new push-button is the answer. Thanks for the tip.

I caught both fish with the ususal green/glo hotspot and gree hootchie, plus a herring strip. This strip makes a difference. About 65' down, and trolling pretty fast - 4 mph.

I have a rubber net I use for trout. The fish don't get scraped up by the knots and rough filament when you use rubber and my hooks haven't got caught in it. A plus when using one in the saltwater, say at, Sekiu you can net all your fish and keep them in the water to check to see if they are wild or hatchery. Much more fish friendly.

Because I sometimes fish for kings catch and release, I bought a "knotless" net, that is less hard on the fish than a net with knots but cheaper than the rubber kind. It has worked well for me (and I believe for the fish).

I started at Shipwreck and got a decent fish at 85' and fished with the tide for bit with no bites. Moved over to possession bar and was out there by myself. Got a nice hit @ 95', fish off. Trolled back to the same spot and got this nice football silver, 11 lbs

Went back to possession, but the dog fish were un-reel. Moved over to shipwreck and after checking my gear right on the surface, a bute of a sillver hit and ran all over the top before getting him at the boat. Also, a long distance release on a king.

Boy was it choppy on Saturday morning. Moved over to East Widbey for protection, just got shakers. Moved back over to shipwreck and got a decent 5 lber and had a big one break me off as he jumped on the surface. Good action! All caught on glow white or green squids with a brined herring strip behined a full size hotspot.

Nice fish Jeffed

We were looking for some of those this weekend but couldn't come up with anything over 8lbs. Still a very nice day on the water and lots of fun.
