I'll be over on the canal this weekend, camping with some friends at Dosewallips (keeping my boat at Pleasant Harbor). I've never fished that area before. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Head up into Quilcene Bay for some good silver action. They are stacked up in the bay right now. Get there at first light and they will be jumping all over the place about a mile north of the shellfish lab on the west shore of the bay. Use small buzz bombs in various colors until you hit fish. It is a four fish limit up there for a good reason.

You know, I almost put something in my first post about this being labeled as a snagfest but I refrained. I have fished up there several times and the vast majority (by a longshot) of the fish I have seen caught have been legal. I have used small brass spoons and buzz bombs exclusively and have not once snagged a salmon in that bay. I think if you are after some decent silver fishing close to Pleasant Harbor it is as good a bet as you will find. You can also try around the end of the Toandos Peninsula, just north or south of Hazel Point. If they have already passed through there then they will be in the bay.

As far as snagfests, the Quilcene river is a different story...that includes the skok as well.

Hey guys,
I was thinking of heading up to the quilcene this holiday weekend sometime. I don't have a boat, but while fishing...getting skunked.... at Hoodsport, I was talking to a guy who came from there, and he limmited. He said he hiked down to the mouth and hit them there. I didn't ask him what gear to use, but I would assume corky's and yarn would do the trick. Anyone got any info to get me on the right direction. Thanks!
