As I was getting ready for the Hood Canal this weekend I found on the WDFW website that they just announced that the season will close for most areas at 7:00 p.m. this Friday. Why can't they let us have one decent long weekend. It takes a twisted sense of humor to close the most family-oriented activity just before the Labor Day weekend. They make me crazy!

That upsets me too Waino, I actually just went and bought another trap. They should close it all week and open it over the weekend versus closing it Friday.

What a load of BS! We get just over 3 months of a season?

We need to fight for a larger share of the allocation. The commercials are wiping out the resource, just look at the poaching that was going on this year!

I don't know about everyone else but I had to work alot harder this year in area 8.2 to crabs and they seemed alot smaller (alot more crab that were barely legal, very few over 6.5"). Looked like the commecials hit them pretty hard.
It got to the point I didn't crab very much, just went fishing.

It was way harder this year out on mission bar - really had to work it. Still got a small honey-hole that's loaded that the commercials/indians haven't discovered yet. But it's located way away from eveything else I do out there. Not that it matters now. Gonna be at B10 this weekend - can still get a cooler full of crab there - thank god. I had committed to supplying crab for Monday's extended family BBQ

Also see the local tribal folks loading up boats this week, I assume they will be out soon to get the rest. From a 10 month to 3 month season in 3 years....pretty sad!

I'm sad and glad. I hooked three derilict pots so far this summer. One nearly cost me a downrigger/gunwhale and wrenched my back when I tried to pull it up. Who knows what it was hung up on. Too many people don't think when placing pots. Like in the Tulalip bubble. Only area open for miles and you have to put your pots in it.
