I drifted the Snoqualmie with the family this past weekend, and found where the recent floods have ripped loose some of the floating barrier from a construction site upstream. 100 feet of this stuff is lodged in the brush. This is a pretty large amount of crap, and I want to get the party responsible to clean it up. I know where the mess is, I know who is responsible for it, what agency should I go to to complain to get a cleanup order going?

s.h., just a suggestion. Write a letter detailing your observations and send it to the responsible party. Send the same letter with an explanation of the circumstances to the editor of the local newspaper. With a large amount of luck, your letter may be published. In the meantime, hopefully someone here will provide the more specific information you seek.

Good luck and follow through. Its people like you that make a difference.

I would contact the construction company. You stated it was caused by recent floods let them know where it is and see if they clean it up. If they dont then take another course of action. I know the construction companys I have worked for would gladly clean it up.( People amaze me they all want roads to drive on,warehouses to work in and houses to live in but they always want to make things difficult for those doing the work.)

I approve this message ( in here ) and no it is not directed at any party involved in this thread. \:D

Yeah, that's what I want to do - get the responsible party to clean it up. I just don't know who that is. I know that it's from the work above the falls, but who is that, Corps of Engineers, private contrator, or what? I figure there's got to be some department in the government who knows how to do that. The sheriff's department will likely know who that is, I'll follow up with them.

Thanks for the suggestions.

And stlhdfshn, I understand what you mean. I'm not pissed at the company, there was a flood, and stuff happens. This is one of those acts of god, and I totally do not want to make life unnecessarily hard for the working guys. I want to let them know where it is, and, if they want my opinion, what kind of boat it will take to get there to get it out. If they talked nice, I'd volunteer mine. I just want to get the ugly mass of stuff out of there, because it's blocking a nice spot. ;\)

Silver Hilton any of the local city or county offices should be able to provide you with the imfo you need as they should of been involved in the permit process. If you dont get anywhere with them send me a message and I would be more than willing to come over on a weekend and help clean it up.

SH,

That work was done within the ordinary high water mark of the river under an HPA issued by WDFW. The work was probably performed by a contractor working for Puget Sound Energy. I think the shortest route would be to call WDFW at Mill Creek with a message for the regional habitat biologist who issued the permit. Whoever the permit was issued to knows who the contractor is and can pass your information along. If you find out it was the work performed by PSE, you can call their headquarters in Bellevue, and they'll have their field people inform the contractor. If this doesn't get taken care of in a reasonable time, email me, and I'll see if I can help with contacts.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

Hi S.H.! I am working up on Snoqualmie Ridge for the next month or so and will bring this to the attention of the City of Snoqualmie inspectors I work with and a few others and see if I can get some info. as well. I have seen the DOT parked there by the bridge above the Falls where the work is being done, perhaps I can catch them there and let them know as well. Take care, I will let you know what happens.

S.H.

Hi there! I was wondering if you got any action on picking up that debris? If not let me know where it is and I have a couple of contacts that can get it cleaned up by the responsible party. Sorry it took so long to get back to you.....have been working waaaaaayyyyyyy to much. I did go out and touch my sled the other day to make sure it was still there. Let me know if I can help.

Take care and good fishing

Actually, I went out along the bank to make sure I had the location correct, and it was gone. Since it was so big, and so entrenched in the trees, that means someone had to have come gotten it. So I guess the folks that lost it likely came and got it.

It was along the fifth hole, about 250 yds out from the green at Sno Falls golf course, if you're curious.

Right on, I talked to a few people last week and mentioned it but did not have a location, apparently the contractor got a boat and took care of it. Take care
