I would likle any info on how and where to fish the Chehalis for salmon. We'll be using a standard aluminum boat that has a vee bottom and a prop. Will that be okay in that river system? Do you guys toss spinners, pull plugs??? Hog lines?? Please, any info will be appreciated. I will return the favor if possible. Thanks, Brass

The Chehalis opens for salmon Oct. 1. Trolling seems most popular for kings, altho other methods probably work. My cousin caught one once casting a spoon from the Weyerhauser pier where he used to work, but I doubt that's a high percentage technique. Casting spinners, spoons, and plugs for coho is popular, along with trolling plugs, and sometimes plunking a plug from an anchored boat. All kinds of boats are used on the Chehalis, but you can only run a prop a few miles above Monte until flows are consistently higher.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

You can also get into serious trouble trolling wiggle warts in orange, or some herring behind a sinker and spreader rig. It's very tidal, watch where you go at low tide.

There are no secrets on the Chehalis. You can put in at Monte, Friends landing or Cosi. There all good. Just be aware of the other 500 hundred boats around you and pick up your garbage. You should have a good trip.

Beautiful campground with hookups or just tent camping available at Friend's Landing. Don't have a contact number readily available but there is a live-in camp host/supervisor who probably takes reservations.

Friends Landing is on the web, im not sure the site, but im sure its not hard to find. We launch at monte and fish the channel below the wynochee. We killed um on k15's and caught a few w/ the big trolling spinners. Its no seceret so just fish w/everyone else & watch out for the other boats lines 50% of them flatline so they go way back. I'll be there the 1st-3rd, flopping from a older alumaweld 14' flatbottom and a new 20' willie predator.

The non-tribal (politically correct version for "white boys") nets will fish 12 hr periods from 6am to 6pm seven days in October:

Fri 8th,

Thur 14th,

Fri 22nd,
Sat 23rd,

Wed 27th,
Thu 28th,
Fri 29th.

Combined with the tribal netting above, nets will be deployed a total of 19 days in October. There will only be 12 net free days in the month:
1-7, 9, 15-16, 30-31.

"white boys"?????
interesting term when applied to all folks of the planet with the exclusion of approxiamatly 1% of the current population currently known as tribal
rethink your choices and your concepts of who is who and what is what as you as in "you" only have one shot here to enjoy this planet
comprende?

Fuzzy, lighten up -- the proper term is honky fishery. Fishdoc, yes, but the bay opens for sporties Sept. 16, with no nets until Oct. 8.

At least it looks like the "cowboys" will not be blocking the south chanel in the bay this week.
WOOHOOO! I can take my uncle out there with the prop driven boat rather than the smaller jet skiff.
When I was young my uncle took me fishing. Now since he was disabled in an accident as a longshoreman, I'm taking him fishing. \:D
We'll be out in a 22' Intruder(black over white). If you see us below 28th street give us a shout.
Good fishing!
