I found out this morning that a co-worker who I've worked with on many jobs, is missing and figured drowned in Bellingham Bay. The article in the paper said they recovered PFDs, a gas can, and a folding lawn chair. I guess it's clear that they did not wear their PDF. It seems like yesterday I was talking fishing with Billy. He was a great guy and one of the best Cement Finishers around. If by chance any of you are visiting the Museum of Flight, take a look around at the concrete work and think of a good man that finished the concrete there.

my condolences to you and his family. It is accidents such as these that remind us that this life can be short. Enjoy it to the fullest but be sure to take care so you can enjoy it without incident.

Sorry to hear the misfortune. Ihope taht we can all fish safely. I know that if I see someone out there that isn't looking safe, I try to keep an eye on them. Remember that we are in this hint together folks, and if there is anything you can do to avoid death or injury, pass the safety around! He will be in my prayers

I know I wore mine last saturday. The wind was just blowing too hard not to.
I wonder if they got hit by another boat?
Although, 10 to 12 feet aint much boat for P.S in my opinion.
Once again, sorry for your loss.

sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. I guarantee you I will be wearing my PFD, and MAKING all on my boat do so as well.

The PI this morning has a small story. They report that the boat was 14-feet. Heading out to check crab pots, they were apparently about 5 miles out into Bellingham Bay when the wind came up. The Coast Guard reported the wind at 40 mph and the seas at 4 to 6 feet. That's tough stuff for a 14-foot aluminum boat.
Be safe. Wear your PFD. Watch the weather.

Heard on the local news that one of the bodies was found near Portage Island. I didn't catch the name but they know which one it is. Performing autopsy.

Remember, you're "boating" first, fishing or crabbing second, so wear a pfd. Especially in rough conditions. I'm sorry to hear of this.

I too am sorry as I've known the loss of three individuals, in seperate situtations who perished in small boats, in the straits. Pdf's won't necessarily do you any good if you don't get removed from the water in a reasonable amount of time. My suggestion: Buy a sea-worthy vessel if you're to go to sea (then have your Pdf's readily available).
I'm very sorry for your loss, but hopefully and at least the people who read this board will learn something as a result
