Matt: Like others have suggested to me:

Be patient. There are tons (literally) of loose dirt, etc. that have developed over the summer months, and with the heavy rains it's getting washed down into the rivers. Once that cleans up (another month or so?) the rivers should stay fairly decent. Also, once the ground freezes up (like in Dec.) it will keep the rivers cleaner.

I was so bummed about the Skagit going out that I even posted a "WHY!" thread. Fact is, we are raring to go...... The river ain't. Fish are still there.

Rivers got it's own ways.

River out or not, I'll be up on the upper Skagit on Thurs 9/16. Fishing a river that is dirty with high water, is still better than a day of yard work and soap opera's with the wife.

I've come to think of the river muddying up to be like washing down your driveway after a long summer (of not washing it down).

It's loaded with dirt and grime built up over the summer months, but after you wash it a few times it stays pretty clean. Hope the same can apply to the river.
